| Unless
you plan to use your computer strictly as a station for
games and word processing, you will want to have some
connection to other computers and the internet. While
most computers today come with networking of some kind
built in, some older ones may not, or may not have the
kind of networking that you want.
If you plan to use the internet through a dial-up connection,
you will need a modem. If you are using broadband internet,
such as a cable modem or DSL, you will need to have
an ethernet card. Both of which are cheap, and easily
available from any store that sells computer parts.
Often, in fact, Internet Service Providers will provide
or even install the needed card for you.
Basically, as long as your computer has a modem
and/or ethernet card, you should have no problems
in this area. And if it doesn't, they're cheap
to buy, and easy to install.
